Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi left for Beijing on Tuesday evening local time for Tehran, meeting with senior Chinese officials to consult with them.
On a trip, the second trip in Beijing, after assuming the post of Iranian foreign minister, he conveys a message from Masoud Masoud Pezeshkian to Chinese President Xi Jinping.
Ayatollah Seiyed Ali Khamenei, the top Iranian diplomat who traveled to Moscow last week to meet and talk with high-ranking Russian officials and conveyed a message written by the leader of the Islamic Revolution, announced that he would visit China this week on a visit to Moscow.
Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei said in a post on his X account on Tuesday that “continuous and close consultations between the two countries at a high level are a clear indication of the determination of both countries’ leaders to expand relations in all areas of mutual interest.”
“China is a permanent member of the Security Council, an influential country in the previous process, a JCPOA participant, and has very close relationships and strategic partnerships with us, and is able to play a constructive and influential role in every process,” the spokesman further said of China’s role in the indirect consultations between Iran and the US.
“The Foreign Minister’s visit to China was previously planned. During this trip, we will discuss the process of indirect consultation between Iran and the US and update them (China) on the latest developments in that regard. A large part of this trip is to follow up on the implementation of bilateral agreements between the two countries in line with the broadening of the targets,” he said.
