Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Aragut departed for Doha on Sunday morning and attended an emergency ministerial meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the Islamic Cooperation Agency (OIC).
Convened in response to Qatar’s demands, the conference will focus on military attacks on the state of the Israeli regime. It is also set to pave the way for the Islamic Arab Summit, scheduled for Monday.
President Masuud Pezeshkian will represent Iran at the Leadership Summit and join other heads of state in deliberations on the crisis. Previously, President Pezeshkian took a two-day trip to Qatar’s capital, Doha, on October 3, 2024, and participated in the official bilateral meeting and the Asian Cooperative Conversation Forum.
The Israeli regime on Tuesday attacked a residential facility in Doha that targeted Hamas leadership. High Hamas officials survived the attack, but five Hamas members and Qatari security guards were killed.
Hamas leaders had met to discuss a deal on a new US proposal to end the war in Gaza that has killed more than 64,803 people since October 2023. Qatar, along with the United States and Egypt, was a mediator of negotiations to end the war.
