Lebanon Prime Minister Nawaf Salm was the last meeting of Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Aragut while in Beirut on Tuesday.
Before meeting with the Prime Minister, Araguchi had held consultations with his Lebanese counterparts Youssef Rajji, President Joseph Aoun and Speaker of Parliament Nabih Berri.
Araguchi and Salam discussed and exchanged opinions on the development of bilateral relations between Iran and Lebanon’s Islamic Republic and regional development.
In addition to communicating a greeting from an Islamic Republic official to the Lebanese prime minister, Aragut said the visit to Lebanon was in line with the 14th government’s policies when building relations with neighbouring countries and countries in the region, including Lebanon.
The Foreign Minister also mentioned the historic and friendly relations between the two countries, highlighting the resolve of the Islamic Republic government in Iran, through the revitalization of the Joint Cooperation Committee, particularly in various areas of economic and trade.
The Lebanese Prime Minister on his part expressed happiness by the Iranian Foreign Minister visiting Lebanon in the current critical circumstances, highlighting the preparations of a new Lebanese government to build ties with the Islamic Republic of Iran on the basis of respect and mutual interest.
