Khatami attended a ceremony at Imam Khomeini Naval University Nosharin University on Sunday, saying that Iran currently holds a “special” position among the countries in the region, and should maintain its independence and territorial integrity.
He warned the enemy that the noble Iranian army is “prepared to give it a more crushed response with greater strength and determination to punish malicious invaders, just like in the past.”
The Iranian Army Secretary pointed out that the scientific development of the military is occurring at a rapid pace due to the evolution of the nature of the threat, the media reported.
Khatami emphasized that Iranian forces must constantly renew themselves and use valuable experiences from past wars, particularly the 12-day Israeli-US war, to identify enemies and threats.
He also emphasized the importance of maintaining the country’s preparedness in the face of maritime threats.
The top Iranian commander said focusing on modern warfare and strengthening its defensive capabilities was a critical responsibility of the Army.
On June 13, Israel launched a blatant, unprovoked attack on Iran, triggering a 12-day war that killed at least 1,064 people across the country, including military commanders, nuclear scientists and ordinary civilians.
The United States also took part in the war by bombing three nuclear sites in Iran with a serious violation of international law.
In response, Iranian forces targeted strategic sites across the occupying regions and Aldeid Air Force Base in Qatar, the largest US military base in West Asia.

As part of the main stages of the military exercise, different types of naval cruise missiles from different ranges successfully hit targets after firing from the naval surface vessels.
Iranian Navy missile systems and naval units successfully destroyed surface targets at sea using Kadir and Nasir cruise missiles, as well as Kadar medium-range anti-ship cruise missiles.
