Yal Ahmadi described the activities of other partner agencies hosting refugees, displaced people and migrants in Afghanistan, highlighting the shortcomings and difficulties.
Referring to the heavy burden of hosting Afghan refugees, their peaceful lives within the country, and the benefits of citizenship services just like Iranians, the officials have been humanitarian to support the country. He expressed optimism about implementing joint projects based on the approach.
Additionally, Yar-Ahmadi welcomed the idea of working with the agricultural sector, saying, “We will do our best to support the planning by establishing a specialized team of experts in the agricultural sector.”
Iran may reconsider its refugee policy
In October 2024, Yar-Ahmadi stated, “If the international community takes responsibility and refrains from fair sharing of the burden on hosting refugees, the Islamic Republic of Iran will likely amend its immigration policy.”
Officials made their remarks at a meeting held on the sidelines of an annual session with UN High Commissioner for Refugees Flippo Grandi.
