TEHRAN – The Iranian parliament has issued a statement reaffirming its strong support for the country’s missiles and defense industry, calling for a full allocation of resources and funds to strengthen its defense capabilities.
A statement signed by the majority of lawmakers and read during the public session of Parliament on Wednesday highlights the strategic importance of Iran’s defence outcomes in the face of regional and global security challenges.
“Iran’s defensive power is well known today. Iranian friends are proud of this power, and Iranian enemies fear it,” the lawmaker quoted the leader of the Islamic Revolution.
The lawmakers emphasized that Iran’s defence industry performance reflects the national decisions, the scientific and industrial capabilities of Indigenous peoples, and their commitment to national security. These results, they noted, have enabled Iran to effectively respond to regional threats and demonstrate the limits of hostile forces. During the recent conflict with the Zionist regime, Iranian military has successfully achieved a multi-layered, sophisticated defense system of enemies supported by the US and other Western governments. Iranian missiles highlighted the effectiveness and resilience of domestic defense technologies and destroyed key military targets.
The statement paid tribute to the commanders and staff who sacrificed for the people and recognized the contributions of engineers and experts within the defense industry. The MP emphasized the importance of ongoing technological innovation, particularly in the areas of missile development, unmanned aerial systems, air defense, cyber capabilities, and the broader land, air and naval combat technology. They also emphasized that advances in these fields must rely on the talents of dedicated, academically trained young people, supported by robust universities and research capabilities.
In addition to technology development, lawmakers stressed the need to prioritize the welfare of military welfare staff, including both active service members and retirees who play a central role in advocacy for Iran. They also sought the timely and complete provision of financial and material resources to ensure that the country’s defense capabilities are strong and can meet current and future challenges.
Following the Israeli regime’s unprovoked attack on Iran that began on June 13th, Iran has focused on improving its defensive capabilities. After halting in the battle on June 24, Iranian officials expressed deep distrust over the Israeli regime’s ceasefire claims, highlighting their credibility. Both military commanders Major General Abdulrahim Musavi and President Maud Pezeshkian confirmed Iran is ready to respond forcefully to new attacks.
