Iranian Navy Commander Rear Admiral Shahram Irani announced the milestone at a press conference on the upcoming Navy Day, praising the sacrifices made by naval personnel to protect the homeland and the families of fallen soldiers. He said Navy Day is a tribute to the courage and dedication of the Iranian Navy, whose efforts during the Iran-Iraq war protected the country’s economic lifeline.
The Iranian naval commander stressed that the Iranian navy is increasingly demonstrating its strength internationally and maintains a strong presence in distant waters to protect the country’s maritime interests. He cited the nine-point maritime policy outlined by Leaders and noted that continued engagement with the high seas is central to achieving these strategic goals.
“The Navy’s approach is based on cooperation with friendly and neighboring countries,” said Admiral Irani, stressing that such partnerships enhance maritime security and security of routes. He also announced upcoming announcements of new naval vessels and equipment, as well as collaborations with universities and research centers to enhance operational capabilities.
Regarding readiness, the commander said two task forces are currently deployed at sea and two more are ready for immediate deployment. This demonstrates Iran’s ability to protect its interests while ensuring the continuation of commercial and economic maritime activities.
The Iranian admiral also defended Iran’s naval activities against the backdrop of international sanctions, arguing that sanctions have little effect as Iranian ships operate freely under the national flag and maintain active engagement with multiple countries.
