TEHRAN – The National Security and Foreign Policy Committee of Iran’s parliament has approved some provisions of a motion to counter enemy incursions.
“Members of the committee considered the motion against the intrusion of foreign intelligence services, governments and institutions into the country and ratified some of its provisions,” said committee spokesman Ebrabim Rezaei.
The meeting was also attended by representatives of relevant agencies, namely intelligence authorities.
Iran has taken spying and espionage seriously as part of its national security measures. In mid-June 2025, Iran executed a man convicted of cooperating with the Israeli intelligence agency Mossad and attempting to share classified information with the occupying Tel Aviv regime in exchange for money. The execution took place after the Supreme Court upheld the death sentence.
The individual, identified as Esmail Fekri, was in close contact with Mossad operatives and was captured in December 2023 during a complex intelligence operation carried out by Iranian security services. Following Israel’s recent military invasion of the Islamic Republic, Iranian authorities have also arrested a number of people suspected of being spies for the Israeli intelligence agency Mossad.
Six nuclear scientists were martyred in the Israeli attack, including Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Mohammad Baqeri, Chief of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Major General Hossein Salami, Commander of Iran’s Khatam al-Anbia Central Command Major General Gholam Ali Rashid, and Mohammad Mahdi Tehranchi and Fereidoun Abbasi.
