Tehran – Iranian President Masuud Pezeshkian has been invited by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim to visit Malaysia.
The invitation message was submitted by Malaysian Foreign Minister Mohammad Hasan in a meeting with Pezeshkian on Wednesday afternoon.
Pezeshkian said Iran is ready to strengthen relations with all Muslim states, including Malaysia, in different regions.
After a hiatus in 2017, Iran held a meeting of joint committees between the two countries.
Pezeshkian said through the joint committee that commercial connections should be promoted and experiences must be shared between the two countries in various economic and scientific technological fields.
Integrating relations and cooperation between Muslim nations between Iran and Malaysia is essential given the current situation around the world, the president said.
He went on to say, “If the Zionist regime commits a crime and launches an attack in the region, it is because Muslim states are indifferent to one another.”
The president has openly mentioned nearly 16 months of indescribable crimes against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and the fatal and destructive attacks on Lebanon.
Pezeschkian also said it is very important to establish close coordination with Muslim staff to heal differences and eliminate misunderstandings.
The Malaysian Foreign Minister also sent a warm greeting from the king and prime minister of his country to the Iranian president, saying that Malaysia-Iran relations were “friendly.” The diplomat also said that Malaysia is keen to develop ties with Iran and use Iran’s experience, particularly in the fields of science, technology, the food industry and agriculture. He also sought academic relationships.
Mohammad Hasan is internationally renowned and calls Iran “the land of scientists and key researchers” that Malaysia is interested in exploiting Iran’s scientific capabilities in line with the interests of both countries.
The foreign minister also said Kuala Lumpur and Tehran share a common position in Middle Eastern and international issues, particularly in Palestinian issues. “Like the Islamic Republic of Iran, we condemn crime and genocide against the oppressed people of Gaza, and also condemn the conspiracy or movement to force the Palestinians to be removed from their homes and lands.”
