TEHRAN – Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on Monday praised the long-standing friendship between Iran and Muscat, saying that Iran and Oman “have stood side by side through years of regional turmoil” on the basis of rationality, trust and mutual respect, which he added is a model that can guide broader cooperation between Islamic countries.
During a meeting with Oman’s Interior Minister Hamoud bin Faisal bin Saeed Al Busaidi in Tehran, Mr. Pezeshikian praised the deep historical and cordial ties between the two countries and peoples. “The relations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Oman have always been built on friendship, goodwill and mutual respect. Both countries have supported each other through all the ups and downs of the region,” he said.
The Iranian president praised Oman’s constructive and balanced role in regional diplomacy, especially its efforts to host and mediate delicate negotiations between Tehran and Washington. “Oman’s cooperation and mediation efforts are commendable and reflect the wisdom and peace-oriented approach of its leaders,” Pezeshkian said.
He also praised Oman’s clear and firm stance in support of the Palestinian people and condemnation of the Israeli regime’s aggression in Gaza. “The humanitarian and Islamic position taken by Oman is very important,” Pezeshkian said. “As Muslims, we value this compassion and solidarity. If all Islamic countries had taken such a principled approach, we would not be witnessing today’s tragic events in Gaza.”
Mr. Pezeshkian expressed his hope that the Omani minister’s visit to Tehran will lead to strengthening bilateral cooperation in various fields. He added: “The Islamic Republic of Iran is ready to expand its relations with Oman in all fields, including science, economy, culture, society and politics. We hope that this visit will pave the way for deeper cooperation and further development of bilateral relations.”
Oman’s Interior Minister Hamoud bin Faisal bin Saeed Al Busaidi described the visit to Tehran as a reflection of the “close, sincere and historic” relations between the two countries. “There is no ambiguity in Iran-Oman relations. The visit to Muscat five months ago and the valuable understandings reached during that visit clearly point to a bright path for cooperation between the two countries,” he told President Pezeshkian.
Mr. Al-Busaidi also welcomed Iran’s continued emphasis on strengthening ties with Islamic countries, especially Oman. “The Islamic Republic of Iran has consistently pursued a constructive and fraternal approach over the past decades, and Oman has always responded with the same goodwill.”
The minister expressed the Muscat government’s determination to expand cooperation with Tehran, saying, “We hope that the strong relations between the two countries will continue with even more vigor and dedication. We are fully prepared to deepen and enhance these relations in all fields.”

Al-Busaidi extended an official invitation to Larijani to visit Muscat, describing the visit as “an important step in deepening strategic cooperation between the two countries.”
In response, Mr. Larijani praised Oman’s balanced and constructive role in regional affairs and called on the two countries to make full use of their capabilities to expand economic and security cooperation at the strategic level.
