TEHRAN – Iranian ambassador to Saudi Arabia Ali Enayati described Saudi Defense Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman’s recent visit to Tehran as an important milestone in deepening regional cooperation and advances in Iran-Saudis relations.
In an interview with Asharq Al-Awsat, Enayati said there is an urgent need for greater solidarity and cooperation among the countries, particularly between Tehran and Riyadh. “The security and stability of this region can only be achieved through the joint efforts of countries in all regions. It’s time for them to come together and shape the future with their own hands,” he said.
The ambassador welcomed the Saudi minister’s trip as a sign of rapid progress in bilateral relations since relations resumed two years ago. Prince Khalid’s meeting with top Iranian officials, including leaders of the Islamic Revolution, President Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, President Masuud Pezeshkian, Major General Mohammad Bagieri, and secretary of the Supreme National Security Council, focused on discussions on expanding cooperation and developing the press region.
According to Enayati, the consultations are working on shared regional concerns, the future of the Islamic world and support for Palestine.
He emphasized that both countries have vast, undeveloped possibilities that can be revitalized through sustained dialogue. “Ayatollah Khamenei emphasizes the strategic importance of Iran-Saudi Arabia relations and their continuity is for the benefit of everyone,” Enayati pointed out.
He described the visit as a clear signal of both countries’ commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and building a more stable and cooperative regional order.
Prince Khalid Bin Salman traveled to Tehran on April 17, 2025 and led a high-ranking military delegation at the invitation of General Bagheri.
