TEHRAN – The Iranian short documentary “Grape Season” directed and produced by Ebrahim Hesari won an award at the 16th TRT International Documentary Awards held in Turkiye.
The film competed in the international category of the event, which was held from November 6th to 9th, and won a trophy and a cash prize of 4,000 euros as the third best film, ILNA reported.
This year, more than 1,200 films from 86 countries were submitted to the festival secretariat, and after evaluation by the jury, 10 films were selected as finalists in the international category.
The 2025 work Grape Season explores the feelings of lovers who have spent a long time together, using the example of ripe grapes that bring joy and ignite the heart.
This 26-minute film tells the story of an elderly man whose wife is seriously ill and his loving efforts to help her recover.
Ebrahim Hesari was the Executive Director of the Kish Mouj International Short Film Festival five times.
He has produced eight short films and documentaries and has served as the cinematographer for more than ten short films and documentaries.
His artistic career includes participation in over 30 national and international festivals and 20 awards in the fields of photography, cinematography and direction.
The TRT International Documentary Awards have been organized since 2009 in conjunction with TRT’s global broadcasting mission, Turkiye Public Broadcasting. These awards aim to support international amateur and professional documentary filmmakers, ensure documentaries from different countries reach audiences, and create a platform where documentary filmmakers and industry players can come together and exchange ideas.
With TRT’s vision as a strong and international broadcasting brand, the festival’s influence grows every year. The 16th TRT International Documentary Awards was attended by renowned production companies, prominent directors and producers, renowned documentary presenters, and expert academics.
Enriching the documentary world in Turkiye and around the world, the TRT International Documentary Awards presented documentaries competing in different award categories from different countries over a four-day event. Masterclass events were held with directors, as well as discussions, panels and workshops on the current and future of documentary filmmaking.
