In a call with Venezuelan counterpart Jorge Rodriguez, Gallibaff on Saturday denounced US President Donald Trump’s administration’s measures targeting Caracas, calling Venezuela an Iranian “friend and ally.” “We condemn the American pretext for Venezuela and adventurism in the Caribbean,” he asserted.
The Iranian speaker added that neither the 12-day war against Iran nor the US threat to Venezuela should disrupt the bilateral agreement, urging deeper practical cooperation between the two allies.
Rodriguez, head of the Venezuelan Parliament, said Iran thanked her for her stance on Israel, adding that the US actions against Caracas were “aggressive and imperialist” and that the accusations linking Venezuela to drug trafficking were “a lie.”
While Venezuela is neither a producer nor a drug transport point, the US is the world’s largest consumer of illegal drugs, and its economy is linked to money laundering and drug trafficking, Rodriguez said.
He added that he showed many to show that Venezuelans were ready to defend their country.
