TEHRAN – Iranian students have won three gold medals and special awards at the 2025 International Science and Inventions Fair (ISIF), ranking them among the world’s top innovators.
The competition, organized by the Indonesian Young Scientists Association (IYSA), was held in Bali from November 12th to 15th.
Iranian students competed in a variety of fields including biotechnology, educational technology, artificial intelligence, mathematics, engineering, chemistry, and nanotechnology.
Raman Nafariye received a gold medal and a special award in the field of biotechnology. The team consisting of Radin Abbasi and Sam Rashidi won the gold medal in the engineering category. Additionally, Matin Hayati won gold medals in the fields of educational technology and artificial intelligence.
ISIF 2025 attracted a total of 800 teams from 24 countries, including China, the United States, Mexico, South Korea, Taiwan, Canada, Turkey, Luxembourg, Indonesia, and Vietnam.
Iran won five gold medals and two special awards at the 2024 ISIF.

Iranian students continued to prove their excellence in international competitions, winning medals at the Yakut International Science Fair (YISF) and the World Invention and Creation Olympics (WICO).
YISF was held in Yakutsk, Russia from July 6th to 9th. The event attracted 129 teams from 10 countries, participating in two different categories.
The first category included mathematics, computer science, and information technology, and the second category included physics, astronomy, and engineering.
In the second category, Mehran Rajabi and Alireza Jafarnejad were ranked first for their project titled “EcoNet Bin: IoT-enabled AI-driven waste separation.”
“Protecting Curious Little Minds: Smart Child Safety Solutions with IoT and Image Processing” is the name of the project presented by Moeid Rajabi and Helena Rajabi, which won second place.
Artin Radmatin, Baran Bahman, Mohammad-Hossein Ezzati, Niki Abtahi, Sarina Nosrati, and Baran Derakhshandeh won third place for “Assessing the effectiveness of using magnetic gears in improving the performance of mechanical gear-based process systems.”
Additionally, Gina Aminoloaya Carladani won a special award for her project “UVGuard Grooming Brush.”
In the first category, Artin Salari and Amir-Abbas Kavosi Amin took second place for “Smart glasses for visually impaired people with real-time object detection.”
Ilia Majzadeh Helavy and Partsa Karimi Yazdi took third place for their project titled “CommuniMate SmartApp: An innovative solution for communication for the hearing impaired.”
The 14th WICO was held from July 17th to 19th at Seoul National University of Education, South Korea. Organized by the Korea University Invention Association (KUIA), the 2025 edition attracted 313 teams from 28 countries to create a global platform to share advances in science, technology, and inventions.
Radin Abbasi and Sam Rashidi won gold for building a humanoid robot called Nannybot that uses the Internet of Things to manage children’s activities.
Matin Hayati’s project “Automated analysis and display of EEG signals for seizure prediction using frequency band analysis” and Raman Nafarieh’s project “Studying the effects of plant nanogels on skin cancer cells” won silver medals.
An Iranian team consisting of four high school students won two silver medals and two bronze medals at the International Olympic Games for Artificial Intelligence (IOAI) held in Beijing, China from August 2nd to 9th.
According to IRIB news agency, Arash Yousefnejad and Ali Shayan won silver medals, while Partsa Golestani and Radin Rahmani-Nodehi won bronze medals.
Iran won two silver medals and two bronze medals at the 8th International Economic Olympiad (IEO) 2025, which was held in Baku, Azerbaijan from July 20 to 29. 68 countries participated in this year’s IEO.
Four Iranian students won three gold medals and one silver medal at the 36th International Biology Olympiad (IBO2025) held in Quezon City, Philippines from July 19 to 27, placing them second out of 81 countries, up from third place in 2024.
Five Iranian students won silver medals at the 55th International Physics Olympiad and were ranked 11th in the world.
