Tehran – Iranian students continued to showcase their excellence in international competitions by winning medals at the Yaktia International Science Fair (YISF) and the World Invention and Creativity Olympics (WICO).
Yiff was held in Yakutsk, Russia from July 6th to 9th. The event brought together 129 teams from 10 countries and participated in two different categories.
The first category included mathematics, computer science and information technology, while the second category included physics, astronomy and engineering.
In the second category, Mehran Rajabi and Alireza Jafarnejad were first ranked in a project entitled “Econet Bin: AI-driven waste separation.”
“Protect the Curious Little Mind: A Smart Child Safety Solution with IoT and Image Processing” was the name of the project where Moeid Rajabi and Helena Rajabi won second place.
Artin Radmatin, Baran Bahman, Mohammad-Hossein Ezzati, Niki Abtahi, Sarina Nosrati and Baran Derakhshandeh took third place.
Zhina Aminorroaya-Karladani also won a special award for her project “Uvguard Grooming Brush”.
In the first category, Artin Salari and Amir-Abbas Kavosi Amin rank second in blind smart glasses with real-time object detection.
Ilia Majidzadeh Heravi and Parsa Karimi Yazdi came third in the project entitled “Communication SmartApp: An Innovative Solution for Deaf Communication.”
WICO is a global platform for inventors to show off their talent, explore new ideas, and gain recognition.
The 14th WICO was held at Seoul National University of Education, Korea from July 17th to 19th. The 2025 edition, hosted by the Korean University Invention Association (KUIA), brought together 313 teams from 28 countries to create a global platform for sharing advances in science, technology and invention.
Radin Abbasi and Sam Rashidi claimed a gold medal to build a humanoid robot called Nannybot to manage children’s activities using the Internet of Things.
The Matin Hayati project, “Automatic analysis and display of EEG signals in seizure prediction using frequency band analysis,” and Ramannafarier’s project, entitled “Studying the effects of plant nanogels on skin cancer cells,” grabbed the silver medal.
Recent results
The Iranian team, consisting of four high school students, won two silver medals and two bronze medals at the Artificial Intelligence (IOAI) held in Beijing, China from August 2nd to 9th.
Arash Yousefnejad and Ali Shayan claimed silver medals, while Parsa Golestani and Radin Rahmani-Nodehi have won bronze medals, Irib reported.
Iran won two silver medals and two bronze medals at the 8th International Economics Olympiad (IEO) 2025, held from July 20-29 in Baku, Azerbaijan. This year, 68 countries participated in IEO.
Four Iranian students won three gold and silver medals at the 36th International Biology Olympiad (IBO 2025). It took place in Quezon, the Philippines from July 19th to 27th, and ranked 2nd in 81 countries from 2024.
Five Iranian students won silver medals at the 55th International Physics Olympics, ranking 11th in the world.
IPHO 2025, held in Paris from July 18th to 24th, attracted 440 candidates from over 90 countries.
Iran won two gold medals, three silver medals and a bronze medal at the 66th International Mathematics Olympiad (IMO 2025) held in Australia from July 10-20.
Bardia Khosh-Eqbal and Mehdi Aqajanloo won the gold medal, with Mohammad-Reza Attaranzadeh, Mohammad-Sajad Memari and Amir-Hossein Zarei winning the silver medal, while Parsa Tajallaei won the bronze medal.
The team was ranked second in the 3rd International Mathematics Summer Camp (IMSC) held in Beijing, China from June 20th to July 12th, 2025.
The Iranian student attended the second international mathematics Olympics for high school students in Turkmenistan, winning seven bronze medals. The event took place from April 21st to 26th.
More than 230 talented students from 15 countries, including Russia, Belarus, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Iran, Armenia, Bulgaria, Nepal, China, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Vietnam, Qatar and Turkmenistan, participated in the competition.
