TEHRAN – Iranian robotics team “Mositto” has won the gold medal at the 8th RoboCup Asia Pacific (RCAP) in 2025.
The tournament was held in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, from November 10th to 15th. Organized by Khalifa University of Science and Technology, more than 160 teams and 700 participants, as well as around 2,000 researchers, industry experts, students and visitors from around the world, gathered to watch AI-driven autonomous robotics challenges compete in eight leagues and 15 sub-leagues, including soccer and rescue.
The event focused on themes such as smart mobility, AI for sustainability, and technology to address regional challenges.
A team of eight students won first place in RoboCup Junior Rescue, Rescue Line and Secondary League, showing the world the talent and creativity of Iranian students.

A team of three Iranian students won two silver medals at the 9th First Global Challenge (FGC), an international Olympic-style robotics competition held in Panama from October 29th to November 1st.
The First Global Challenge is held in a different country each year. FIRST Global is inviting countries to send teams to build and program competitive robots.
Iranian students won 1st and 2nd place in the invention and innovative technology category of the TEKNOFEST competition, demonstrating the capabilities of Iran’s new youth in robotics, artificial intelligence, and technological innovation.
The competition, organized by Istanbul, Turkey from September 17th to 21st, aimed to improve individuals in the fields of robotics, electronics and coding, and to design robots suitable for specific tasks.
According to Mehr news agency, the Iranian team consists of Kian Kalbarei, Mertaş Razgordani, Altin Isrampana, Seyed Amir Homan Tabatabay Nejad, Samyar Reza Soltani, Al-Din Kanarizadeh, Mohammad Raivandi and Mehdi Rayvandi.
The event was attended by participants with 980 projects from 56 countries including Germany, South Korea, Uzbekistan, Russia, Netherlands, India, Iran, Philippines, Malaysia and Paraguay.
Iran’s robotics and geoscience teams won various awards at the International Federation of Robotsport Associations (FIRA) and International Earth Sciences Olympiad (IESO) competitions held in South Korea and China, respectively.
Robotics teams that participated in the FIRA 2025 World Robotics and AI Competition in Daegu, South Korea won 11 awards.
Iranian participants won four bronze medals at the International Earth Sciences Olympiad (IESO) held in Jining, China.
FIRA Robo World Cup and Summit 2025 was held from August 11th to 15th. The Iranian team won five championships in the Air League, Sports League (students under 19 years old), Challenge League and Youth League. They secured four runner-up places and two third places in self-driving cars, youth creative tasks, and sports leagues.
Iranian students aged 7 to 17 won second place out of seven countries at Kazakhstan Roboland 2025, which was held in Karaganda city from March 27 to 29.
According to Kazinforum news agency, the event attracted more than 750 young inventors from seven countries.
The international festival attracted 362 teams from Kazakhstan, Bulgaria, Iran, Russia, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan, competing in 23 categories.
Over 2,000 children participated in the Elimination Trials and over 400 teams competed in the Qualification Round to make it to the Roboland 2025 finals.
