TEHRAN – Iran participated in the Yerevan International Tourism Exhibition held recently at the Meridian Expo and Event Center in Yerevan, Armenia.
During the event, Iran showcased its numerous capabilities in cultural, religious, natural and health tourism, Mehr News Agency reported on Monday.
Mohammad Asadi Movahed, Armenia’s cultural attaché to Iran, visited the Iranian pavilion and received a detailed explanation of how the country’s tourist attractions are presented to visitors.
The pavilion was set up by the Tabriz University of Islamic Arts, and a portion of the pavilion was dedicated to exhibiting books, pamphlets and tourist information content with the cooperation of the Embassy’s Cultural Attaché.
The highlight of this pavilion was the exhibition of a collection of handicrafts from different provinces of Iran and the presentation of tourist attractions in digital format. Here, visitors could scan a QR code and receive information about tourist destinations and the beauty of Iran.
This initiative was welcomed by Armenian visitors and international participants, many of whom highlighted the appeal of travel to Iran and their desire to visit these destinations.
Rusin Gevorgyan, Chairman of the Armenian Tourism Commission, also visited the Iran Pavilion and highly praised the quality of the presentations and content presented.
He said the cultural, historical and political relations between the two countries have important strengths for the development of the tourism industry.
Noting the continued cooperation between the two countries, the Prime Minister expressed hope that the issues related to land travel to Iran by Armenian citizens, especially the entry restrictions on private vehicles, will be resolved soon, paving the way for an increase in leisure and family tourism to Iran.
Assadi Movahed pointed out that Iranian road trips to Armenia are widespread and stressed the need to strengthen the infrastructure and welfare services on the route to Yerevan, saying that resolving these challenges could play a direct and effective role in expanding tourism exchanges between the two countries.
Assadi Movahed said, “Iran’s presence in such events, especially in tourism exhibitions, is important because Armenia, our neighbor and a country with which we have long-standing ties, has not yet visited Iran as much as it should, and their travel has not reached an acceptable level.”
He pointed out that activists should participate in these exhibitions and develop broader relationships with Armenian tourism companies, as the presence of tourism activists who introduce Iran will bring Iran closer to Armenians.
He added that this year’s Yerevan Tourism Exhibition has shown more than ever that tourism exchanges between Iran and Armenia are not only an economic opportunity, but also an important basis for deepening mutual understanding and expanding sustainable cultural and social cooperation. It is a cooperation that could significantly increase both countries’ share of the regional tourism market by strengthening infrastructure and targeted planning.
