Tehran – The Iranian Centre for Progress and Development (CPDI), and the Vice President for Science, Technology and Knowledge-based Economy, representing the country with 12 scientists under the age of 40, the 8th Young Innovator Award for Science and PhD, Artificial Intelligence and the 8th Young Innovator Award focusing on climate change.
The forum was held in Brasilia, Brazil from September 15th to 17th. Researchers and entrepreneurs from members of the group, including Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Egio and Indonesia, will showcase innovative solutions in science, sustainable development.
According to Gov.BR, the forum’s main goal was to support science projects with actual social impact. Three important topics were discussed this year. The impacts and adaptation of climate change, scientific diplomacy, and the use of AI for social solutions.
One of the highlights of the program was the 8th edition of the BRICS Young Innovators Award. It recognizes inventors and researchers who have impactful solutions to social and economic challenges. This perception represents Bullock’s confidence in the potential for young people to make major changes in areas of health, the environment, social inclusion and new technology.
During the three-day event, representatives of the country will take an active role, provide scientific lectures and present research projects on issues such as scientific, economic and social impacts, including comprehensive modelling of the environmental, economic and social impacts of the BRICS COP policy, innovation in the water and renewable energy sectors, interdisciplinary research on climate change, and interdisciplinary research on both scientific initiations of the life system. The qualities of citizens of BRICS countries, Mehr News Agency reported.
It also proposed strategies to enhance scientific interactions between member states.
Iranian researchers on the world’s top 2% list
The most recent international data shows that the presence of Iranian researchers in the world’s top 2 percent list based on citation indicators continues to rise, indicating an improvement in the country’s quality of scientific production.
The reputable “Updated Science-wide Author Database of Standardized Citation Indicators,” which provides an updated version of the scientist ranking based on standardized indicators, reported on September 19 that Iran experienced unprecedented growth in both one-year performance and scientific career indicators.
Based on the report, the number of highly cited Iranian researchers in the one-year performance index increased from 2,326 in 1403 (2024-2025) to 2,533 in 1404 (2025-2026).
The figures represent an increase of 207 compared to the previous year, clearly indicating the improvement in the quality and impact of the country’s scientific production in 2024, he explained.
Additionally, the number of Iranian researchers highly cited in career-wide indexes increased significantly from 1,018 in 1403 to 1,021 in 1404. A five-year trend analysis shows that we achieved this notable outcome from 433 in 1399, experiencing almost triple growth over this period.
