The head of Iran’s air fueling division said on Saturday that 57 branches across Iran supplied more than 1.57 billion litres of jet fuel to the planes from one year to March 20th.
Iman Jannatkhah said that 212,886 jet fuel was supplied to last year’s calendar year, adding that daily use of jet fuel in Iran has increased to 40 million litres, an almost 250,000 litres to operate 583 flights.
The numbers are new indications of increased activity in Iran’s civil aviation sector despite sanctions targeting the industry that limits its ability to purchase planes and expand flight numbers.
The US and the European Union accused Iranian Airlines of serving Iranian forces, while also imposing sanctions on Iranian Airlines.
This is a report released in November that the government would suspend payments of jet fuel subsidies to Iranian airlines from late March to calendar year in order to save nearly $1 billion in annual budget spending.
