According to Press TV, the Iranian Dairy Industry Association (IDIS) figures showed that Iranian dairy exports reached 0.587 million tonnes (MT), worth $948.9 million between late February and late February.
The report said dairy exports from Iran increased by 19% in volume terms and 43% in value terms compared to the 11 months ended February 2024.
It accounts for 38.6% of total dairy exports from Iran, generating revenues worth around $366.7 million over the 11-month period, adding that shipments rose 51% year-on-year.
Iranian cheese exports rose 17% in the 11 months to late February, reaching $146.2 million, compared to the same previous period.
However, the union said butter exports rose 262% in last year’s calendar year amid a global shortage in which Iran increased Iran’s butter demand for Iranian butter in a country like Russia.
IDIS figures showed that butter exports generated $169.9 million in revenue in 11 months from late February to late February.
Iran has introduced police to encourage food exports from the country as part of its efforts to diversify its economy from crude oil revenues.
Figures released last week by Iran’s Customs showed that on March 20th it exported approximately $5.2 billion worth of agricultural products per year, up 29% from the previous year.
