The completion of major repairs at the Hague Oil Terminal and upgrades to tanks 25 and 26 was announced on Saturday during a visit to Hamid Bobad, CEO of the National Iranian Petroleum Company (NIOC). Each tank had a capacity of 1 million barrels and was returned to service after a complete reconstruction.
Tank 26 has undergone a comprehensive overhaul, including roof and floor replacement, roof drainage systems, grounding systems and containment basins. Safety systems were installed, including cooling, foam suppression, topographic membranes and geotextile layers, and there was a complete repainting of the tank’s exterior and interior. Tank 25 was also restored after sediment removal, floorboard replacement, roof repairs, installation of cathode protection systems, redesigning roof drainage, repainting and construction of containment basin and safety systems.
Deputy Petroleum Minister Hamid Bobbard said the additional 2 million barrels of storage capacity will increase Iran’s export flexibility, promote upstream production and reduce supplementary costs such as tank leases. He explained that the project adds a great deal of value to the oil industry.
Bovard also highlighted the renovation of five decommissioned vessels to support ship loading and docking operations at the Kharg terminal, thanking all those involved in the project.
The NIOC CEO noted that the project was fully completed by domestic contractors and labor force, demonstrating Iran’s high technical and engineering capabilities in petroleum infrastructure.
