TEHRAN – Iran’s Home Minister for Security Law Enforcement, Ali Akbar Poul-Jamsidian arrived in the Tajik capital of Dushanbe on Tuesday and joined the 3rd Iran-Tajikistan Security and Law Enforcement Working Working Group.
According to a statement from the Information Centre of the Ministry of Interior, Poul Jamsidian was welcomed to arrive at Abdullamon Aramsozoda, the First Deputy Minister of the Republic of Tajikistan.
The visit will include a series of high-level meetings between Porjamsidians, including the Minister of the Interior, and senior Tajik staff. The discussion will focus on a wide range of common concerns, from combating organized crime and drug trafficking to counter-terrorism cooperation and border control.
The highlight of the visit was the convening of the third joint working group on security and law enforcement, a mechanism established to institutionalize collaboration between the two countries. This latest round is expected to create actionable steps towards improving intelligence exchange, coordinating cross-border operations, and training law enforcement personnel.
Observers say the conference reflects the growing momentum of regional efforts to tackle cross-border threats, particularly as a result of changing geopolitical dynamics in Central and South Asia.
Both staff describe this speech as an important platform for exchanging operational expertise and coordinating policy approaches to tackling common challenges. The first joint working group launched in recent years has gradually evolved into the cornerstone of Ilan-Tajikistan’s security dialogue.
The results of this week’s meeting are expected to contribute to a broad framework of cooperation between Tehran and Dushanbe, and to more broadly imply regional stability.
