Sources say that while no date for the next negotiation between Iran and Europe has yet to be set, communication between Iran and the three European provinces remained open and direct, with both sides exchanging messages on a continuous basis.
He added that consultations and discussions regarding the possible activation of the snapback mechanism are still ongoing and it is too early for Europeans to say what decisions they will ultimately make.
Sources emphasized that from an Iranian perspective, Europeans have no right to invoke the snapback mechanism.
On Monday, Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei said, according to the logic of the JCPOA, in exchange for lifting unfair sanctions by the US and European countries, Iran had taken a series of voluntary measures on restrictions on enrichment levels or other issues related to the use of different machines. “Therefore, accepting certain restrictions on Iran’s nuclear program in return for sanctions relief is nothing new,” he said.
“We have said that we are ready to take a series of measures once unfair sanctions are lifted to provide assurances about the peaceful nature of the nuclear program,” he emphasized.
He said three European countries are in contact with Iranians. Tehran has not ruled out the possibility of holding another consultation, but said there was no decision on the issue at this point.
