In a meeting with the secretary of the Security Council of Armenia’s Armen Grigoryan in Yerevan, Iran’s Minister of Defense Brigadier General Aziz Nasirzadeh expressed his satisfaction with the expansion of cooperation between the two provinces in the military and defense sectors.
Emphasizing the geopolitical and strategic positions of Iran and Armenia in the region, the Minister of Defense pointed out that many sectors are the ability of two neighbors to complement each other, and can contribute to each other’s progress and development.
The general also welcomed the final decision on the draft peace agreement between Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan, and expressed that Iran is ready to contribute to the peace process.
General Nasirzadeh said sustainable peace in the Caucasus paves the way for wider regional cooperation and development.
“When the independence and national sovereignty of the nation and internationally recognized borders are fully respected, peace will win in the South Caucasus,” added Iran’s defense minister.
