Seyed Sattar Hashemi, Iran’s Minister of Communications and Information Technology, said that a fiber optic production facility has been launched and operated in Venezuela by Iranian knowledge-based companies in line with the expansion of technological diplomacy and exports of Iran’s technological capabilities to other countries.
The Iranian Fiber Optic Factory in Venezuela was established with an investment of $10 million. It aims to meet the domestic needs of Venezuela, which previously imported $2 million worth of fiber optic equipment from Iran, and become a regional hub for exporting telecommunications equipment to Latin American countries.

Previously, Iran and Oman had also agreed to establish new corridors for data and internet transport. This route starts in northern countries such as Russia and Central Asia, then passes through Iran and extends south to the Persian Gulf, India and even East Africa.
The purpose of this contract is Iran’s purpose to leverage domestic infrastructure and become one of the region’s main data transit routes. The initial capacity of this corridor is 4.5 terabits per second.
