TEHRAN – Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Aragut held joint telephone conversations with foreign ministers of France, Germany and the UK and diplomatic representatives of the European Union on Wednesday, focusing on Iran’s nuclear program and lifting fraudulent international sanctions.
During the call, Araguchi highlighted Iran’s principled commitment to diplomacy and dialogue as an essential tool to prevent regional and international escalations. He criticized the efforts by three European countries to reinvigorate previously fired UN Security Council sanctions, describing them as legally and logically unfounded.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran has been constructively involved with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and has developed a clear framework for implementing safeguards under the current circumstances,” Araguchi said. “The importance and value of these measures must be fully recognized by all parties. Currently, it is mandatory for European partners to maintain a diplomatic path, avoid unnecessary crises, and seize this opportunity to demonstrate the seriousness and commitment to dialogue.”
The Iranian Foreign Minister emphasized that Tehran is ready to pursue a fair and balanced solution that protects the mutual interests of all involved parties. He emphasized that achieving such outcomes requires a responsible, independent approach by European countries, free from the influence of external actors ignoring diplomacy, international law and established norms.
During the discussion, the two sides exchanged opinions and proposals aimed at continuing constructive diplomatic engagement, and shared the need for a sustained dialogue to address the ongoing tensions associated with Iran’s nuclear activities and international sanctions.
This series of talks highlights Tehran’s claims for involvement through dialogue, refusing to unilateral punitive measures amid growing tensions over European scrutiny and international sanctions over Iran’s nuclear program.
