Brigadier General Mohammad Medinehad Nouli, deputy director of science, research and technology for the general staff of the Iranian military, made his remarks Thursday, as Press TV quoted.
He was working on the country’s Qassem-Basir missile capabilities announced by Brigadier General Aziz Nasirzadeh on May 4th.
Officials have identified projectiles as examples of “significant achievements” in the field of cybertech and as the field of military equipment design and manufacturing.
“On the ground, at sea, and at space, these achievements contribute to the defensive deterrent of the Islamic Republic and enhance the (military) equipment capabilities against potential threats from the enemy,” he noted.
He praised missiles’ independence on global positioning systems (GPS), and noted that they use their own inertial navigation systems (INS).
Mehdinejad Nouri praised Iran’s “capable experts” for using know-how, saying that such technology was once only available to the US and several other countries.
He also reminds us that the global navigation and control systems of GPS services around the world are also managed by the US and several other countries, suggesting that Qassem-Basir’s independence from the GPS complicates the work of those trying to track and destroy projectiles.
Therefore, he stated that the Islamic Republic “can strike designated hostile positions without the need for war, or the chaos of the (voyage) system, without the need for GPS.”
Mehdinejad Nouri has further praised the Iranian army for fully planting a new generation of such missiles from the design stage to the ultimate production.
“Currently, within the Islamic Republic, the design and production of all the equipment needed for military involvement, especially drones, missiles, ships, tanks and other equipment, is made by domestic experts,” he said in the same context.
“This successful and promising path continues.”
Officials also highlighted last year’s development of Shahid (Martyr) Bagheri Home Grown Drone Carrier Vessel’s last year’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
