In an interview with Iranian state television, Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeli Baghhai revealed that Oman’s indirect negotiations with the US focused solely on nuclear issues and sanctions relief.
Baghaei said the draft presented by US special envoy to the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, did not include issues such as Iran’s regional role, missile capabilities or other security issues, but simply called for assurances regarding the peaceful nature of Iran’s nuclear program.
Baghaei emphasized that the US has been acting on that framework so far, adding that Iran is completely committed to engaged in nuclear issues alone.
He reaffirmed that the nuclear issue is the only area of discussion with the US, saying that the Iranian delegation has not considered any talks outside of this range.
