In a statement issued on Thursday marking Naqba’s Day, the creation of the “Zionist regime” on May 15, 1948, the ministry calls the day a “genocide” of the Palestinian people, calling for international accountability for the ongoing “genocide” and “war crimes” that Israel has added.
Nakba, which means “catastrophe” in Arabic, led to the migration of more than 750,000 Palestinians in 1948, the statement said, adding that it continues to have a lasting impact on the Palestinian population.
“Israel’s claims to continue the daily murders and torture of genocide in Gaza and Palestinians in the West Bank are the result of the confidence that the regime’s leaders are not responsible for the UN, the Security Council or other competent international organizations,” the ministry said. “This is a direct product of clear US support for this administration.”
Iran also accused them of obstructing efforts in the International Court of Justice and International Criminal Courts of Justice to hold Israel accountable for crimes on Palestinian territory.
The statement also reiterated its strong support for Palestinian rights to Palestinian self-determination and resistance to the profession, calling on the global community to act to end violence, end occupation and bring perpetrators to justice.
Iran emphasized the need to establish an independent Palestinian state and the right to return of refugees as the only way to resolve decades of conflict.
