According to an April report by OPEC, oil production by the organization’s 12 member states in March was 26,776 million barrels per day, a decrease of 78,000 barrels per day compared to February.
However, Iran’s oil production also rose 12,000 barrels per day to 3,335 million barrels per day, maintaining its position as OPEC’s third largest oil producer after Saudi Arabia and Iraq. Iran’s average oil production in 2024 was 3.257 million barrels per day, compared to 2884 million barrels per day in 2023.
Previously, the OPEC executive director to the UN office in Vienna and Iranian envoys have called for coordinated policies stemming from challenges to the international oil market.
Haitham Al-Gay and the new ambassador of the UN office in Vienna in Iran, Leza Najafi, held a meeting in Austria on Saturday.
Gais praised Iran for his constructive role and support of OPEC, welcomed a course of cooperation between both sides and praised OPEC for its preparation for closer interaction with Tehran.
