TEHRAN – On Friday, the 17th edition of the Iranian Regional Music Festival began in Bandar Abbas, the capital of Hormozgan province, where it attracted individuals decorated with colorful clothing, spoke a variety of dialects and experienced the diverse music of various ethnic groups around the country.
The festival features 32 groups representing 22 states, showing both solo and group performances that allow participants to connect with local music.
At the opening ceremony, the festival’s secretary, Foad Tohidi, welcomed the audience and expressed his gratitude for their participation. He also provided information about the group performing on the first day of the festival. Several veteran musicians were honored at the ceremony.
The second day of the festival served as a gesture of sympathy for the affected families, which took place on Saturday and caused at least 25 deaths and 750 injuries in light of the tragic incident and massive explosion at Shahid Rajae Port in Hormozgan. The evening’s performance featured sad works and elegies from various regions around the country, allowing artists to express the sadness and solidarity of their victims.
After the incident, the festival artists expressed their readiness to donate blood to those injured in the tragedy.

This year’s festival will feature Hormozgan, Fars, Mazandaran, Sistan, Balchestan, Ilam, Chaharmahal, Bakhtiari, Zanjan, South Horasan, Hamadan, Kogirue and Boyer Ahmad, Jiran, West Azarbaijan, Herman, Haman, Haman, Haman, Haman, Haman, Hamad Azarbaijan, Khorasan Razavi, Lorestan, Kordestan, Bushehr, Khuzestan, and Golestan Province.

Usually, Iranian folk musicians are taught art by their families. There are many different types of traditional musicians specializing in Iranian folk music, some of which are attributed to specific ethnic and regional groups.
It was organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Leadership, the Iranian Music Association, and will end on April 28th with cooperation from Governor Hormozgan and cooperation with the 17th Iranian Regional Music Festival, the Cultural and Islamic Leadership of Hormozgan.
