TEHRAN – Family of martyrs in Iran’s 12-day war imposed war filed their case with the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva on Monday, demanding accountability for war crimes against victims’ rights and justice.
According to Iran’s Human Rights Headquarters, relatives of those killed in the Israeli regime’s recent attacks on Iran also attended the 60th session. The attack killed more than 1,000 Iranian civilians, including children.
Ali Amini, whose brother and nephew were one of the victims, addressed the council while holding sports photos of his nephew Amirari. “I lost both my brother and nephew,” he said. “On the first night of the attack, an Israeli missile struck and killed the house without warning,” as he said, images of children killed during the 12-day war were on display.
Also present was Alireza Sedighi Saber, brother of Dr. Mohammadreza Sedighi Saber, who was killed along with his whole family during the Israeli strike at Ashrafieh.
Ali Balini, the permanent representative of Iran’s Geneva, told the council that Israel launched an “unprovoked illegal military assault” on Iran early on June 13, 2025, and launched a US attack on June 22. right. Nevertheless, Iranians are “united and resilient,” he said.
Mohammad Sargazi, chairman of the Iranian parliament’s legal and judicial committee, criticized the international silence in the face of Israeli crimes. In a side event on the human rights impact of the conflict, he said the survivors present represent not only thousands of affected families, but Iran’s population of 90 million who have “who witnessed one of the most brutal attacks in the present day.”
“The rights of life, especially for women and children, are trampled under daily,” he said. “If the world cannot stop this regime, we cannot argue that we will protect human rights.”
