Ammar Hakim, leader of the Iraqi National Wisdom Movement, welcomed the Iranian parliament delegation in Baghdad on Sunday.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed regional development and the state of bilateral ties between Iraq and the Islamic Republic of Iraq.
Hakim emphasized the importance of Albainian pilgrimage, both at the formal and grassroots level, as a strategic platform to promote cooperation between the two neighbouring countries. He noted that religious events play an important role in strengthening cultural and political ties.
He also welcomed the unity behind the Iranian state’s immobility and leaders of the Islamic Revolution, praised the role of the Iranian parliament in defending national interests and supporting the general aspirations.
Iraqi officials called for deeper parliamentary cooperation between the two countries and emphasized the importance of establishing a joint committee to explore common priorities. He said Iraq is ready to expand such cooperation in future elections based on its extensive parliamentary experience.
