During a meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Arakchi in Tehran on Monday, Iraq’s National Security Adviser Qassim al-Araj reported on the talks in Iran and progress in implementing the bilateral security agreement, reaffirming the Iraqi government’s strong commitment and full commitment to implementing the agreement.
Foreign Minister Al-Araj praised the unity and national unity of the Iranian people against foreign aggression and asserted that Iraq will never allow any threat to Iran’s sovereignty and national security to emanate from its territory.
Mr. Araqchi noted the close and growing ties between Tehran and Baghdad in all fields, and stressed the need for continued consultations between officials of the two countries and enhanced cooperation on security issues, especially border security.
The two officials also exchanged views on regional developments, with a particular focus on the situation in the Occupied Palestinian Territories.
Both sides expressed concern over the continued violations of the Gaza ceasefire by the Zionist regime and stressed the responsibility of the international community to prevent genocide and crimes in Gaza and to ensure the delivery of necessary aid to the Gaza people.
The two officials also discussed the latest developments in Lebanon and emphasized the need for concerted efforts and cooperation among Islamic countries to counter the Zionist regime’s aggression and expansionist policies.
