Sayyed Mohsen Hakim, senior advisor to Sayyed Ammar Al-Hakim and deputy head of the Iraqi National Wisdom Movement, who is in Tehran for talks and consultations with Islamic Republic of Iran officials, met with Iranian Foreign Minister Sayyed Abbas Araghchi on Saturday.
During the meeting, Mr. Hakim reported on the recent Iraqi election process and expressed his gratitude for the Islamic Republic of Iran’s position and support to the Iraqi government and people.
Mr. Araghchi congratulated the Iraqi government and people for holding parliamentary elections peacefully and successfully. He added that the swift formation of a new government will further enhance the positive results due to the enthusiastic participation of the Iraqi people.
Araghchi said increasing voter turnout is an important step toward strengthening Iraq’s democratic process and safeguarding the country’s sovereignty and national security. He further expressed hope that the elections will pave the way for greater unity, security and progress in Iraq.
Iran’s top diplomat emphasized that the Islamic Republic of Iran is determined to expand friendly relations with Iraq in all areas of mutual benefit.
