TEHRAN – Iran’s Red Crescent Association has transported 60 tons of relief objects to flood victims in Pakistan.
The shipment includes essential items such as a 25,600 kilogram blanket, 27,780 kilograms of rice, 2,840 packs of tea (approximately 1,420 kilograms), and 460 clothing items.
Officials also expressed that they are ready to send rescue teams to Pakistan in case they need it.
Following July’s firearm floods, landslides, house collapse and massive monsoon rains that caused drowning across Pakistan, the IRCS announced it was ready to send humanitarian assistance to help individuals affected by the floods in Pakistan.
“As the sadness is growing, we learned about the recent outbreak of floods in Pakistan, particularly Punjab, which has sadly killed and injured many civilians. The Red Crescent Association of Iran (IRCS) expresses sincere pitiful dol to you and the families of the victims,” Crescent Association (PRCS).
“We will be standing with you during these difficult times. We are ready to send medical and relief teams to support humanitarian businesses,” Kolivand added.
Pakistan’s National Disaster Management Agency (NDMA) reports that at least 1,006 people have been killed and 3.02 million people have been rescued in Pakistan amid the severe rains and flash floods since June 26, Express Tribune reported.
In a statement Sunday, the NDMA said a total of 5,768 rescue operations have been carried out nationwide, with 273,524 relief items being distributed during that time. Treatment was provided to 662,098 individuals in 741 camps, established through coordinated efforts of the NDMA, the State Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), the Pakistani Armed Forces and other emergency services.
Punjab recorded the highest deaths with 304 deaths, including 110 children, 143 men and 51 women. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) reported 504 deaths consisting of 90 children, 338 men and 76 women. Sindh saw 80 deaths, Balochistan 30, Pakistan occupied Gilgit Baltistan (Pogb) 41, Pakistan occupied Jammu and Kashmir (POJK) 38, and Islamabad 9. 1,063 people have been injured nationwide, with Punjab accounting for 661, KP 218, Sindh 87, Pogb 52, POJK 37, Balochistan 5 and Islamabad 3.
Rescue operations concentrated in Punjab, with 2.81 million people evacuated through 4,749 projects. Sindh has 184,011 people have been rescued in 753 businesses and 14,317 KP has been rescued in 211 businesses, Express Tribune reported.
