Vice-General Alireza Tangsiri, Navy Commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard (IRGC), announced on Wednesday the successful development of a missile launcher that could reach a speed of 116 knots, equivalent to about 215 kilometres on the land. He said the craft passed all technical and professional tests.
“We built a missile launch vessel with a speed of 116 knots, which is equivalent to 215 kilometres per hour. We have completed all technical and specialized testing,” he said.
“The IRGC Navy produces its own vessels, missiles, drones and subsurface systems.”
Emphasizing the IRGC’s commitment to local safety, he added, “I’m tired all day and night to ensure the safety of the Persian Gulf.”
Looking back, the commander said Iran could not even build small fishing boats before the Islamic Revolution, and American companies could not even build them for the Iranians. “Today, we have developed a Shahid Soleimani class vessel using the most advanced technology. This vessel can sail up to 5,000 nautical miles in open oceans.”
