TEHRAN – Iran’s Commander of Islamic Revolutionary Security Forces (IRGC) says the IRGC’s naval forces will fully respond to any movements by enemies in the Persian Gulf.
Major General Mohammad Pakpour made a comment while inspecting the operational units of the IRGC in waters in the Persian Gulf.
“As (Iran’s) troops have brought the Israeli regime and the United States to their knees in a 12-day imposed war, the IRGC’s navy will respond to any movement that involves full preparation for the sea or the (Persian Gulf) island,” Top General said.
General Pakpour’s inspection of the IRGC’s naval forces precedes a potential second war between Israel and the United States.
If another war broke out, Iran could block and mine the strategic Strait of Hormuz, where over 20% of the world’s oil and natural gas passes. The blockage of the Strait of Hormuz could seriously damage the economies of the world, namely the Western countries and the US.
On June 13, Israel launched a blatant, unprovoked attack on Iran, triggering a 12-day war in which at least 1,064 people, including military commanders, nuclear scientists and ordinary people, killed within the country. The United States also took part in the war by bombing three nuclear sites in Iran with a total violation of international law.
In response, Iranian forces targeted strategic sites across the occupying regions and Aldeid Air Force Base in Qatar, the largest US military base in West Asia.
The three highest-ranking military commanders of Iran reaffirm the country’s complete preparation to counter aggression, emphasizing that unity among the military is the cornerstone of protecting ideals of national security, independence and Islamic revolution.
In late September, Major General Abdolrahim Mousavi, chief of staff of Iranian forces, said when meeting Major General Pakpour, the army was “prepared to confront the potential threat or aggression decisively.”
“The massive victories and surprising achievements of the military, especially IRGC and Basij, demonstrate that strategies to achieve a strong, brave, and crushing response to aggressive deterrence and threats are effective,” he said.
General Musabi said that unity of the Army and the IRGC is a factor behind the enemy defeat and Iranian independence, national security, territorial integrity and guarantors of protection of the ideals of the Islamic Revolution.”
On his part, General Pakpour emphasized that the IRGC is at the forefront of implementing the defensive doctrine of the Islamic Republic.
He emphasizes his preparedness for a “quick, decisive, useful” response to enemy adventurism, referring to the June attack on Iran “whose Zionist enemies and the US defeated.”
A week ago, General Musabi paid his own visit to a naval base in the Persian Gulf and spoke with the IRGC Navy Commander about the country’s plans and preparations.
