Amir Sayed Irabani, ambassador to Iran and permanent representative of the United Nations, condemned the growing trend of spreading hatred towards Muslims at high-level UN conferences and said in commemoration of International Day against Islamophobia, the “Zionist Regime” will use Islamophobia as a profession for patients and as a profession for criminals and as a profession for criminals.
Referring to the Zionist regime’s occupation and the continued oppression of the Palestinian people, senior Iranian diplomats at the United Nations stressed every day that the world witnesses brutal attacks on Palestinians occupied in their homeland.
“In cooperation with allies, the occupation regime is trying to justify war crimes, apartheid policies and systemic oppression by creating false links between Islam and terrorism,” he said.

statement
By His Excellency
Amir Said Irabani
Ambassador and permanent representative
Iran’s Islamic Republic goes to the United Nations
Before a high-level meeting commemorating international day to fight Islamophobia
March 14, 2025 – New York
In the name of God, compassionate man is merciful
First, I would like to thank the President, the President, for convening this important informal meeting.
president,
A well-known colleague,
Three years ago, the adoption of General Assembly Resolution 76/254 clearly reflects a common commitment to dealing with Islamophobia, and is one of the most surprising symptoms of intolerance, negative stereotypes, stigmatization, discrimination, and incitement to violence against people based on religion.
Then last year, the adoption of a resolution on “measures to combat Islamophobia” reiterated this unified dedication by calling for effective measures to eradicate Islamophobia in all forms.
It also highlights the important need for increased awareness and efforts to combat the spread of hate speech, including encouraging the implementation of all necessary measures, such as legislation and policy measures, to combat Islamophobia.
A well-known colleague,
Iran’s Islamic Republic has expressed deep concern about the widespread network of anti-Muslim campaigns, including the use of media and social media platforms. These practices and policies have detrimental effects on Muslims around the world, particularly those in vulnerable situations such as foreign occupations and minority communities.
In this respect, the world continues to witness daily attacks on Palestinians, whose hometowns are occupied. Israel, as an occupation regime, works with its allies to create a direct link between Islam and terrorism, maintaining a futile attempt to excuse its atrocities, crime and apartheid practices.
Furthermore, Muslim Ummahs are exposed to their values, shrines, scripture violence, honor and defence in some Western countries, under the guise of freedom of expression. We strongly urge all these countries to continue to criminalize and ban violence and hatred against religious symbols and scriptures in the laws of the nation, and to actively engage in collective efforts to deal with Islamophobia.
In conclusion, my country is firmly determined to continue supporting any effort to combat Islamophobia and religion-based extremism.
Therefore, Iran welcomes his appointment of Mr. Morachino as the envoy privileged director general to combat Islamophobia. Iran has also expressed its active involvement in the envoy’s work and is ready to work closely with him in this regard.
thank you
