TEHRAN – Iran’s atomic energy agency confirmed Thursday that Israel has launched an attack targeting the nuclear facility of Arak Heavy Water, also known as the Shahid Kondab Research Reactor in Iran’s central Markazi province.
The strike occurred early in the morning, but there were no casualties or injuries, according to a statement released by the organization. The agency emphasized that preemptive security measures are in place to prevent threats to nearby residents and critical infrastructure.
“The attacks did not result in casualties or injuries. Thanks to pre-taken security measures, there is no risk or damage to the population of the area surrounding the facility,” the statement read.
Iranian sources also confirmed that there was no nuclear leakage or environmental risk after the strike.
The incident has been formally reported to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Iranian officials said they have called Israel’s actions a dangerous escalation in the ongoing conflict with the Zionist regime.
