Israeli forces said that Southern Dalah, near the town of Tasir, killed several “fighters” when they attacked overnight to “confiscate combat equipment and destroy terrorist infrastructure.”
The military said it would not tolerate “the presence of combat equipment in southern Syria.”
Israeli fighters launched multiple strikes early on Thursday in the capital Damascus, Hama’s central province and southwestern Dara, according to local media.
The latest wave of attacks began with a series of heavy air strikes targeting Hama Military Airport, resulting in around 18 recorded hits.
Syrian reports say the attack killed seven people, including “four officials from the Ministry of Defense under the HTS-led administration,” but 12 others were reportedly injured.
The airstrikes reportedly caused significant damage to military aircraft and infrastructure, bringing the airport fully operational.
The HTS-led administration’s Foreign Ministry has denounced Israel’s strike as a “blatant violation of international law” and called on the global community to pressure Israel to comply with international norms.
On Telegram, he said the strike was an attempt to normalize violence against Syria and destabilize the country.
In Damascus, the capital, Israeli fighter jets targeted scientific research centres in the Balza region and created a smoke plume that can be seen rising from the site.
Israeli forces confirmed the attack in a statement, describing Damascus’ military infrastructure as a necessary action targeting the “military capabilities” of the military airports at Hama and T-4 (T-4).
Israeli media has shown that the strike at T4 base served as a “message to Turkey,” and reportedly attempted to establish its presence there, preparing to deploy air defense systems to the site.
Israel sees Türkiye’s military presence as a direct threat to freedom of operation to Syria.
Last week, Israeli officials warned that Turkish air bases in Palmyra could “increase tensions in the region and increase the risk of conflict with Israel.”
