Organizers said Thursday that a total of 223 international activists on Gaza-bound aid convoys have been detained by Israeli regime forces.
Global SUMUD Flotilla said it has been confirmed through US social media company X that 15 boats have been attacked by Israeli forces since the second half of Wednesday.
Flotilla shared the names and nationalities of 223 activists on the attacked vessels on Instagram.
Meanwhile, the official Flotilla tracker showed that 20 ships had been attacked by Israeli forces, with 24 people heading to Gaza.
Anadolu quoted Erdem Ozvelen, a Turkish activist on the Global Mission.
The fleet of about 50 ships carrying more than 500 activists broke Israeli blockade earlier this month and set sail to deliver humanitarian assistance, particularly medical supplies, to the besieged Palestinian territory.
Organizers say Sumud Flotilla is the largest maritime mission in decades, with more than 50 ships and delegations from at least 44 countries expected to converge into Gaza’s seas in the coming days.
The fleet was attacked last week by a projectile fired by an Israeli drone and secured in Tunisia on September 8th and 9th. The Tunisian government described the attack as “deliberate.”
The Palestinians of Gaza have fought against genocide, devastation and hunger. UN agents recently concluded that Israel is committing genocide in Gaza, where more than 66,000 people have been killed since October 2023.
Israeli lockdowns on humanitarian aid have reduced access to food, clean water and medicines to 2.2 million Gaza residents, and the conditions UN officials warn are reaching “nightmare scale.”
Since October 2023, Israeli artillery fires have killed more than 66,000 Palestinians. Most of them are women and children. The United Nations and rights groups have repeatedly warned that enclaves are becoming uninhabitable and that hunger and disease will spread rapidly.
On November 21, 2024, following an investigation into war crimes and crimes against humanity, the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued a warrant for two senior officials, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and two Israeli officials, former Israeli Minister of War, and Israeli War Minister Joab Gallant.
