As cross-border tensions between Israel and Lebanon intensifies, concerns have risen that Israeli military actions, like movements seen in other Arab countries, are part of a broader strategy to restructure the local political order by pushing Lebanon to negotiation and ultimately normalization. But Berri’s solid stance could underscore Lebanon’s resistance and shape the conflict and diplomatic dynamics in the region.
Beli told visitors that Israel is trying to create a “new reality” for Lebanon by expanding its aggression, as reported by Lebanon’s daily Arjumouria. He said the goal is to portray Israel as having the upper hand and Lebanon in consultations leading to normalization.
Beli says the Israeli regime is intensifying its military attacks, creating a new reality on the ground, and forcing Lebanon to political negotiations that lead to normalization.
Lebanon’s Parliament President emphasizes that both the Lebanese government and Hezbollah have shown restraint despite Israel’s violations and continue to be committed to the unsupported ceasefire agreement.
Beli also pointed to a US aid agreement that requires the withdrawal of Israeli-occupied Lebanese territory and allow Lebanese forces to be deployed. However, he accused Israel of continuing the violation and refusing to release Lebanese detainees.
