In a joint statement, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Security Minister Israel Katz announced that they had directed the occupation forces to launch a strike against Syrian government forces and cited attacks on members of the Syrian Druze community, Alumiden reported.
The statement alleges that occupying forces target “regulatory forces and weapons brought into the Sweida region,” and a violation called “demilitarization policy,” which bans the existence of Syrian military units and weapons in southern Syria.
“Israel is committed to preventing harm to the Syrian Druze due to its deep brotherhood alliance with Israeli Druze citizens and its family and historical ties with the Syrian Druze,” the statement said.
Occupational authorities have framed their actions as measures to “ensure demilitarization of areas adjacent to the Syrian border” as a measure to “prevent the Syrian regime from hurting them.” Meanwhile, Israeli media reported that the occupying air force had launched a wave of massive attacks on southern Syria.
