However, Hamas argues that there is no need for a new agreement and that the Israeli regime must be forced to respect existing transactions.
“Hamas has not closed the door to negotiations, but it claims that a new agreement is not necessary,” Hamas’ Taher Al-Nunu told Cairo’s AFP.
“In light of existing contracts signed by all parties, no new contracts are required,” he added.
The Qatar, the US and Egypt-brokered ceasefire agreement came into effect in January, killing nearly 50,000 people and suspending thousands of unrecorded genocide.
Under the contract, the second phase of the armistice should have begun in early March.
The agreement provided that Israeli forces should withdraw from Gaza, and that a more permanent ceasefire should take effect in the second phase.
However, the Israeli regime refused to enter the second phase of negotiations.
“We don’t have any conditions, but we require that the profession be forced to immediately stop that attack and extinction war and begin a second phase of negotiation,” Nunu said.
He called on the international community to end the war in order to “take urgent action,” and accused Israel of “violating the signed ceasefire agreement.”
On Tuesday, Israel launched one of the largest and deadly waves of air since launching Gaza’s genocide in 2023.
According to Hamaslan Gaza’s Ministry of Health, Tuesday’s Israeli strike killed more than 400 people, making it one of Gaza’s most deadly days in the entire war.
