In an interview with Mehr news agency on Monday, Shamshad Ahmad Khan, former Pakistan foreign secretary, said With these facilities being heavily strengthened underground, it is unlikely that Israel will succeed in destroying Iran’s nuclear infrastructure.
He said the Zionist regime’s aim of attacks on Iran would not be achieved, adding that Tehran would teach lessons to invading enemies.
He rejected the government’s prospects for Iranian change, citing unity of Iranian citizens in supporting the government’s government.
Ahmad Khan criticized the US for miscalculating Iran’s response, saying Washington underestimated Tehran’s capabilities and willingness to retaliate.
He said Iran is now entitled to fully respond and might even decide to abandon the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) if tensions continue to rise.
Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump is reportedly making diplomatic efforts to negotiate a ceasefire.
Despite the uncertainty of the region, major world powers, including China, Russia and European allies, are pushing for diplomatic solutions.
Analysts warn that long-term hostility could lead to a global economic crisis, particularly affecting oil markets, affecting countries such as Japan and European countries.
Ahmad Khan further pointed out that Israel’s actions pose a threat beyond Iran, and that Pakistan also views Israel as a security risk.
Reaffirming Pakistan’s stance, Khan declared that both the government and the people were in unwavering solidarity with Iran, signaling a strengthened regional alliance against perceived Israeli hostility.
The IRGC launched a retaliation operation on Friday evening and Friday evening hours after the US-backed Israeli regime launched a massive military attack on multiple locations in Iran and targeted nuclear facilities, military infrastructure, Tehran and other cities home construction.
The operation began shortly after Ayatollah, the leader of the Islamic Revolution, sent Ali Khamenei’s message, which aired, saying that the “despicable” Israeli regime would “become helpless” following retaliation by the Islamic Republic’s military.
The regime’s attacks led to the assassination of senior Iranian military commanders, nuclear scientists and civilians, including children and women.
