Ground sources report that Israeli occupation forces are carrying out heavy shelling and large-scale destruction east of Khan Yunis in southern Gaza.
According to Israeli news outlet Walla, Al Jazeera reported that regime planes also struck several locations east of Khan Yunis and near the Breij refugee camp overnight.
The United Nations has warned that humanitarian agencies are in a “race against time” to deliver life-saving aid to besieged residents as the regime’s blockade continues to cut off Gaza’s remaining supply routes.
Abeer Etefa, a spokesman for the U.N. World Food Program (WFP), said aid shipments have increased slightly since last month’s ceasefire, but restrictions imposed by Israel have left only two crossings open and food and supplies shipments have been significantly curtailed.
“We need full access. We need everything to move quickly. We are in a race against time. The winter season is approaching. People are still going hungry and the needs are overwhelming,” she said.
WFP operates 44 food distribution centers across the enclave and has provided packages to more than 1 million Palestinians since the October 10 ceasefire. However, Etefa noted that deliveries remain grossly inadequate, especially in northern Gaza, where famine conditions are already confirmed.
“A major obstacle is the continued closure of the northern border into the Gaza Strip,” she said.
