Israeli forces have dismantled an entire humanitarian fleet trying to break the war-torn siege of Gaza and arrested hundreds of activists from dozens of ships, Al Jazeera reported.
A live stream video showed Israeli forces forced their way on the final ship on Friday morning. Polish flapping marinette, reportedly with six crew members, was the last boat in the global Smood fleet seized by Israel.
Israeli Foreign Ministry previously warned Marinette that “it will also prevent attempts to enter active combat zones and violate the blockade.”
Since Wednesday, Israeli navy has stopped dozens of boats carrying humanitarian supplies to Gaza and detained around 500 activists from more than 40 countries.
Israel previously accused volunteers of “trying to violate a legal naval blockade.” He said this was a claim that violated international law and would do whatever it takes to stop them.
The Israeli navy intercepts each boat, detains the crew before transferring them to Israel, where they are deported. Several well-known figures are detained, including activist Greta Samberg, former mayor of Barcelona Ada Kollou and members of the European Parliament Lima Hassan.
As the largest naval aid mission not attempting to deliver supplies to Palestinian enclaves, the fleet has attracted global attention, and the boat seizures have encountered global condemnation and sparked protests around the world.
The UN has yet to comment on Israel’s actions, but Francesca Albanese, the UN Special Rapporteur in Palestine, describes interception as “illegal adduction.”
