Anadolu news agency reported on Monday, citing local media, that Israeli forces raided a Syrian town in the southern province of Quneitra early Monday in the latest act of violating the country’s sovereignty.
The Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) reported that three Israeli vehicles patrolled the western part of the village of Saida al-Khanout, and an Israeli drone flew over for surveillance.
The Israeli army moved two tanks from Al-Burj in the city of Quneitra to Al-Hamidiya in the north.
In a similar raid on Sunday, Israeli forces set up two military checkpoints in the northern and southern parts of the countryside.
There was no immediate comment from the Israeli military or Syrian authorities on the media report.
Since December 2024, Israel has carried out more than 1,000 airstrikes against Syria and more than 400 cross-border raids into southern provinces, according to government data.
After the fall of Bashar al-Assad in late 2024, Israel expanded its occupation of Syria’s Golan Heights by occupying a demilitarized buffer zone, a move that violates the 1974 agreement with Syria.
