“Israel” occupied the West Bank during the six-day war in June 1967. Prior to that, since 1948, Palestinian territory was under Jordanian control.
Rothman criticized the current terminology of the “Israel” legal framework as “historical distortions” that must be revised.
“The fact that the official legal language of Israel still contains the dishonest term “West Bank” is a shame for the knesset, the Jews and our history,” he says. Ta.
Rothman argued that “the phrase provides a false narrative and erases our historical rights.”
The preface to the bill argues that “Jews and Samaria are inseparable parts of the Jewish historic homelands,” highlighting their deep significance in Jewish history.
With preliminary passage, the bill will be referred to the Knesset Constitution, Law and Judicial Committee (chaired by Rothman) for further deliberation before proceeding with additional measurements.
